What is The Freckled Muse? Background?
I graduated in 2005 from the School of the Arts majoring in Creative Writing and then studied Communications at both MCC & FLCC.
What inspired you to be work in media? Early experiences worth sharing?
As a creative writing major we studied all aspects of writing including Journalism which always intrigued me. I was a writer before I was anything else and idolized Carrie (Sex & The City) as well as Free from 106 & park.
My entire life has been adverse and conflicted lol but I triumphed it all. Reflecting on it all now and Picking one specific situation seems impossible. But I would have to say the most impacting situation would have to be:
While in a ugly custody battle I beat up my sons dads girlfriend when she interfered with our custody arrangement. Because of that I was sentenced to 30 days in jail 3 years probation. I lost my businesses and suffered public humiliation as few knew the details of my arrest but many knew about it and tormented me on social media and various other sources. I was embarrassed and almost defeated. But my relationship with God and seeing the impact my choices had on my son changed my life forever. I was eventually released from probation, won in all court proceedings and eventually saw that if I allow God to handle my enemies I would win every time. And I have. BC of the entire situation I grew so focused on my son and my career that anything that doesn’t align with that I steer far from.
What sets me apart from other Radio Personalities is everything. Being also a reporter, writer and poet all add up to who I am and my opinions so when I am on air my first priority is to be honest living in my truth is part of my brand and that is something many radio hosts shy away from these days but because I am not listeners relate to me more. My background is so eclectic not only with my race but also with my talents and experiences that I can speak from many demographics.
I am a writer, reporter, spoken word poet just to name a few. I draw and design clothes, reading, cooking and I love music and spending time with my family.
Any projects you have out or currently working on?
I am currently working on several projects most pressing my 1st mixtape will be released on my 30th birthday Tuesday July 11th. The mixtape is the 1st All rochester mixtape featuring all local rappers, comedians & businesses. I am hosting the entire tape as like the female DJ Khaled DJ Drama performing skits, original poems & more. The listening party will b held that same night at ER STUDiOS 470 State St in Rochester
In 5 years I will be a millionaire, serial entrepreneur with several best selling novels, documentaries, appearing on every magazine cover, movies and more. I plan to create a program geared towards teen girls. In 5 years I will be married and having more children.
What advice can you give to aspiring Radio Personalities?
My advice is to be yourself. They might tell you not to be in one way or another but don’t listen.
